🎨MID-TONES & MID-VALUES IN WATERCOLOR 🎨
Hi there!
In today's vid I want to talk to you about the importance of mid-values in watercolor.
Mid-values (or mid-tones), at least in my definition are all the values that are between the lightest highlights and the darkest shadows.
🎨WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT 🎨
The reason I wanted to address this topic is that I see many beginners that have a problem with this.
Their paintings contain very light values, and very dark values, but nothing really in-between.
It's important to include the necessary range of values to portray an object in a convincing manner.
🎨THIS PAINTING 🎨
The funny part is that I don't particularly like this specific painting.
I actually think I could have done many things better.
But I do think it's a good enough example for the process of adding mid-values (which usually for me come in the second layer).
