Bemye w riz recipe - Okra stew is a favorite from the Lebanese recipes. This stew marries the distinct flavor of okra with a tomato paste sauce & tender of rice, this Bamia recipe is a classic Arabic dish from Lebanon made with okra and tomatoes #claudetteskitchen

Ingredients:
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 2 onions cut into small squares
- 8 tomatoes
- 8 garlic cloves
- 1 bunch of coriander
- 600 gr. frozen Bamia, or okra
- 1.25 liter of water
- 5 Lemons juice
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- Half teaspoon of tomato paste

Rice:
- 1.5 cup of American rice
- 1 cup vermicelli
- 3.5 cups water
- 1 teaspoon of salt

:المكونات
- كوب زيت نباتي
- بصلتان مقطعة إلى مربعات صغيرة
- ثمانية حبات طماطم
- ثمانية  فصوص ثوم
- حزمة او باقة كزبرة مفرومة جيداً
- ستمئة غرام بامية مثلجة
- لتر وربع ماء
- خمسة حبات عصير ليمون او حامض
- ملعقتان صغيرتان من الملح

:الارز
- نصف ملعقة صغيرة من معجون الطماطم
- كوب ونصف من الرز الأمريكي
- كوب شعيرية
- ثلاثة أكواب ونصف من الماء

How is okra used for weight loss?
Okra water is a drink made by soaking okra pods in water for up to 24 hours. Its proponents claim that it boosts weight loss and improves blood sugar management, among other health benefits.

How long does okra last in the fridge?
three days
Refrigerate unwashed, dry okra pods in the vegetable crisper, loosely wrapped in perforated plastic bags. Wet pods will quickly mold and become slimy. Okra will keep for only two or three days. When ridges and tips of pods turn dark, it needs to be used immediately.

Can you freeze fresh raw okra?
The smooth type varieties freeze as well as or better than the ridged varieties because they do not split as easily.

Do you wash fresh okra before freezing?
Wash the fresh okra and pat it dry to remove any excess moisture.

Should you refrigerate fresh okra?
Keep the whole okra in the vegetable crisper drawer of your refrigerator and use it within the same week you bought it. Right before cooking with it, wash it in cold water.

How do you put up okra to fry?
You simply just coat the sliced okra in a flour/cornmeal mixture, flash freeze, & store in bags.

What is the use of Bamia?
Bamia is known to aid in prevention of diabetes. It is rich in fibre which helps in the prevention of this disease. Good folate content: Folates present in okra reduce the neural tube defects in a newborn baby. So, it is highly recommended for women during pre-conception period or pregnancy.

What is Bamya in Arabic?
In Arabic, Okra is called "Bamia" or "Bamya" and it's very common in many households. It's cooked with lamb or beef in a tomato and garlic broth, and uses simple flavours that marry together so well!

What is Bamia in English?
The word "bamia" itself simply means "okra" and it is etymologically an Arabic word.

Okra stew or Bamia is a Middle Eastern, Armenian, Afghan, Kurdish, Anatolian and Turkish stew prepared using lamb, okra #shorts  tomatoes as primary ingredients. Additional ingredients used include tomato sauce, onion, garlic, cilantro, vegetable oil, cardamom, salt and pepper.

Which country invented Bamya?
Bamiya or bamia is a stew from the Middle East, Anatolia and Greece made with lamb, okra and tomatoes. The Arabic word bamia simply means okra, vegan Okra in Tomato Sauce (Bamia w riz). Okra stewed in a rich tomato sauce.
