How To Update The FIRMWARE On The Exodus Render!

In this video, Cameron walks you through updating the firmware on your Exodus Render Cellular Trail Camera. We have detailed instructions on our website. Just click the support tab, scroll down to firmware updates, find the exit us render, and you can follow these step by step instructions, but we get a lot of questions on how to do that.

So first things first, you have to put the firmware on an SD card and then put that SD card into the camera and you can update the firmware from there. So you go to the support tab, scroll down and find firmware updates. Select that as you scroll down, you'll see Exodus Render cellular trail camera. Click on the Exodus Render.

The most current firmware version is 0721A. If you have that firmware on your camera, you're good to go. If you have anything previous, that camera does need updated. If you're running firmware 0122A the camera must be updated with an SD card. If you have anything other than 0122A you can do this firmware update over the app.

So as you scroll down, you'll see a red link says, download firmware by clicking here. Go ahead and click that. At the top, you will see your downloads open that up and you will see a dot BRN file. That is the file that you need to put on the SD card. Don't try to double click it and open it. You just need to copy and paste that file onto your card. Just copy paste that .BRN file onto the home screen of that SD card. If you put it in a folder, it will not allow you to do the update. So from here, we're just going to update the camera.

Once you get that camera opened up, Slide the SD card in, and turn the camera over to Set Up. Make sure that you have a fresh set of batteries. If you have anything below 50% battery life, the camera will not allow you to complete the firmware update because in the process it could crash. If the camera loses firmware, you won't be able to power it on.

So in the camera, select menu. In the menu, All you have to do is push the up arrow once, and select firmware. Now, if you want to check what version you're currently running, just select version. If you scroll down, you'll see update. If your camera doesn't allow you to hit update or scroll down to update you either don't have the firmware on the SD card correctly, or you don't have enough battery life to complete the firmware update. Those are the only two reasons why you camera would not allow you to update the firmware select update.

Now you're going to have a screen that says updating please wait. And then it's going to give you the status of the firmware update. It's going to go from zero to a hundred percent. Once the camera completes the firmware update with this current firmware is most likely going to say upgrading MCU. Let that completely run through, then camera will blackout. And then it'll turn back on and you'll get your red prompts on the screen manual, APN running, registered home network status, sending status report, status report sent. Once those red prompts come up, you can let them run through the process. Then go back into the menu. Select firmware again, make sure the version is correct. The most current version is 0721A.

The other option you have as an Exodus render owner is to update the firmware with your app over the air. So if you have any firmware version other than 0122A, you can complete this firmware over the air. Just keep in mind, It does use your data. Any communication sent back and forth is going to use your data. And these firmware files are larger than a photo. But if you want to update your camera with your app, all you do is select the camera that you want, and under the actions tab, select update firmware. It's going to tell you the latest version that you have. And then it's going to tell you the firmware that is on the camera. Just make sure that you're updating to 0721A, then select update firmware.

And it's going to say a request sent successfully. The next time that camera is triggered, or if you're in a delayed upload interval, the next upload it's going to then begin downloading that firmware. And that will then complete the firmware update and you will be good to go.
