Chip Seal Paving

Here we demonstrate how to chip seal pave a driveway. Driveway chip sealing is similar to road chip sealing. The process is pretty much the same. First grade and compact the driveway. Be sure to get all of the big loose rock off the surface of the driveway. Once you have compacted the driveway spray down the hot chip oil. For most driveways we use crs2p oil. On roads crs3p will be used because it sets up much faster and can allow for heavy traffic almost immediately. Once the chip rock or chip stone is applied then we roll it with a pneumatic roller to set the rock in the oil. Once the new chip seal driveway is rolled you can drive on it. Keep in mind there will be loose gravel on the surface. After the chip seal gets driven on for a few weeks you can blow off or sweep off the loose rock if you choose. This is not a necessary step but a lot of people don't want the excess gravel left on.
