How to change driver side blend door actuator/air mix control servo motor sub-assembly on a 2014 Toyota Venza. Shout out to the parts guy at Heffner Toyota, the most useless individual I have ever met in my entire life, but anyways more info on that at the end. In the description below, I use actuator and motor interchangeably, I am talking about the same thing.

Part number: 8710607120

The most important info first, how did I know what to order? Specifically the part number of said individual part? Or how I deduced all said information? Links are below.

http://www.tovenza.com/

- very useful website
- explore what you can do to your venza

http://www.tovenza.com/components-207...

- Scroll all the way to the bottom of link
- This is an inside view of the hvac system, all this is behind the dash
- Air mix control servo motor sub-assembly is the driver side blend door actuator, this motor controls the temperature mixing when you adjust the climate controls

http://www.tovenza.com/parts_location...

- Additional diagram of motor

https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/show...

- Once I located the part, I searched for the part
- Part 87106V in the diagram is the part in the above link from tovenza
- The part number of driver side actuator is 8710607120, this is what toyota uses

http://www.tovenza.com/disassembly-20...

- how to remove parts according to the service manual, ignore the steps as this is a guide for the disassembly of the air conditioning unit, we are only looking to remove the air mix servo motor
- step 4 is where I am referring to that tube I removed half of in the video (timestamp: 4:57), there is a clip on top of it, making it impossible to remove from underneath
- step 12 shows how to remove the air mix control servo motor, only 2 screws hold it in

Symptoms of how I was able to diagnose this issue are:
- driver side temperature does not change no matter what you input into climate controls
- passenger side temperature can be changed
- climate control modes and fan speed can be changed on both driver and passenger sides
- climate controls do not save upon starting up the car and climate controls don't work for 30 seconds upon starting vehicle

How I obtained this knowledge? I used google, didn't even know what a blend door was before this job.

Originally, I had called a toyota dealership for a "blend door actuator", but the parts guy didn't know what I was talking about and gave me some part numbers of stuff he thought I was talking about, so I started doing some research of my own to pinpoint the part. I later found out, this guy was confused because toyota calls it a servo motor and not an actuator. In order to confirm I had the correct part from the website lakelandtoyota, I visited Heffner Toyota to see if they could help confirm I had the correct part. I already had decided I would buy an OEM part from the dealership as this is my dad's vehicle, and he doesn't mind paying. I was going to do the labour as I enjoy fixing things up and this didn't seem like a hard task. The parts guy from Heffner knew what I was talking about, showed me the identical diagram from lakelandtoyota for a brief second and we had confirmed this was the part I wanted to replace. Upon asking this individual what the part number was, he said "I can't do that". His reasoning behind this stupid decision is that "I can then go buy the part from amazon/ebay for cheaper". I then went to another dealership and ordered the part, thanks for nothing man. This part costs about $300 CAD for a simple motor and plastic gears, I bet I could probably fix it myself by replacing the little motor, but as I said, I didn't pay for it.
