The plans was to clean
The plans was to clean the undercarriage of my 1981 Corvette a bit and lube suspension and steering components. Still, thanks to a leaking front brake caliper, that plan kept growing to include many other repairs and maintenance tasks.
The factory Kelsey-Hayes slotted aluminum wheels got new(ish) rubber and underwent a major detailing. The Vette got two new front calipers and the system will (eventually) be completely flushed.
The Air Injection Reactor (AIR) system lost more than a few parts including the old and broken smog pump and hoses.
The fuel pump was leaking so that had to be addressed immediately, and that project required the pump to be completely removed and the hoses replaced.
The chassis was also lubed and that job included the ball joints, clutch Z bar, idler arm, and tierod ends.
I even drained the engine coolant since they used water which resulted in tons of corrosion blocking internal passages. A complete flushing of the system will be performed to ensure the cooling system can maintain the correct engine operating temperature.
