Types of Cast Iron - ;
- Gray

Gray Cast Iron - :
- C 2.5% - 4%
- Flakes of graphite surrounded by ferrite matrix
- Weak and Brittle under tension
- Least Expensive
Nodular (Ductile) Cast Iron
- Small amount of Mg or Ce added to gray cast iron
- Matrix is pearlite or ferrite
White Cast Iron
- Very Hard and Brittle
- Used in rollers in mills
Malleable Cast Iron - :
- Cementite decomposes to graphite
- High strenth and good ductility
