AMIE Exam Lectures- Materials Science | Metal Alloys | Types of Non Ferrous Alloys | 11.3
Introduction - :
Previous Video - Different kinds of ferrous alloys
Present Video - Non Ferrous Alloy
Non Ferrous Alloys - Iron ans Steel , though is the dominant used, it has following drawbacks.
- High Density
- Susceptibility to corrosion
- Electrical conductivity comparatively low.
Copper Alloys - :
- Highly Resistant to corrosion
- Alloying improves mechanical and corrosion properties
- Can take huge amount of cold
Aluminium Alloys - :
Good Ductility
- Corrosion resistant in ambient atmosphere - alumina formation
- Low density, high electrical and thermal conductivity
- Precipitation Hardening - Age Hardening , used to increase the yield strength.
