By popular demand, today we will find out how to get to Berlin from the airport using public transport. I have just landed in terminal 2. As you will see, there are not many escalators but you can use the lifts or ask for assistance. Always follow the Exit or Ausgang sign and you will find yourself directly at the baggage claim. On the way you will be confronted by people going in the opposite direction. This is because both departing and arriving travellers like us have to walk a common stretch to reach their final destination. It is a kind of large corridor with a central intersection full of activities, shops and bars. In order not to get confused, the secret is always to follow the Ausgang/Exit sign. After collecting your luggage from the hold continue outwards following the green route if you have nothing to declare or the red route if you do have something to declare. Once you have exited, you will be outside. To take public transport to the city, you must re-enter Terminal 1, following the signs. Enter Terminal 1, the main terminal and arrive at the central junction represented by two floors of escalators. Go down the escalators and turn all the way to the right to reach platforms 1-4, making a real U-turn. There is only one last set of stairs to go down to the lower level, the platform level. Express trains to the city in fact leave directly from platform 1. Don't forget to validate your ticket at the red ticket machine, which you will find just opposite the stairs from which you have just come down.
