"Some answers you have to find out on your own, Buck"

In my other videos with Buck, I've discussed this idea of him "searching" for something, so feel free to check those out if you want a practically a full essay on that topic alone. For this one, I decided to really just focus in on how Buck's search for happiness and "ease" relates to Tommy and specifically the RECENT developments in Buck's life.

While I do start the video with a brief reflection back on where Buck started, the point really is to highlight where he is now, which - shockingly because it's Buck - actually seems to be a really good place.

This character has been put THROUGH it. I mean. Imagine having an entire firetruck land on you, get directly hit with a tsunami, and get struck by lightning and die for 3 minutes and 17 seconds (and that's not even counting the interpersonal emotional trauma). I simply could not.

But here, where Buck is with Tommy, he finally does seem to have found this moment where he can breathe a sigh of relief and just BE for a little while in this relationship. That "ease" that he's been searching for. Where all his fears can fall away.

As someone who grew up searching for more queer representation in the media, I am pretty familiar with the format trope writers tend to use with their queer characters - character discovers their sexuality, hides it out of fear of rejection from family and loved ones, and at some point finally is able to come out. And sure - that's certainly a fine structure, because coming out is such a huge moment in the lives of queer people - but what I have been looking for for a long time is how discovering your own identity does not lead to gut fear or panic response - but instead a sigh of relief and an "oh there we go, that's the piece I was missing."

Buck's weird anxiety about lying to Eddie aside, that's really what we've seen with Buck. This sense of peace and calm that has come from him settling into himself. Figuring out what that "something" he has been searching for really is.

As always, I really can never figure out what's up with the crazy volume problems I always have. So I apologize in advance if things just seem too loud.

I hope you enjoy!
