In this talk we discuss the de Broglie-Bohm pilot-wave approach to quantum mechanics, in which individual systems have definite trajectories. We show in particular how the theory is able to understand quantum physics as a special case of a much wider physics in which the Born rule is violated. We present some features of the wider physics, which includes nonlocal signalling and breaking of the uncertainty principle, and we discuss how this new physics might be accessible.

Sobre o palestrante
Valentini formou-se na Universidade de Cambridge e obteve seu doutorado em 1992 na International School for Advanced Studies (ISAS-SISSA) em Trieste, Itália. Entre 1992 e 1996 atuou como pós-doc na Università di Roma. Em 1999, ele obteve uma bolsa de pós-doutorado para trabalhar no Imperial College. Atualmente é professor de física e astronomia na Clemson University, nos Estados Unidos.
