“Cupid – Twin version.” You’ve
“Cupid – Twin version.” You’ve probably heard it before.
Whether it was from Tik Tok clips, on YouTube, or from K-pop fans, the song could be considered one of the “K-pop songs of the year in 2023.”
Yet, for the artists that sung the viral hit, Fifty Fifty, the “Cupid” craze would soon turn disastrous, as the group was hit with a huge scandal.
The group was soon caught up in a major feud between two companies: their parent company, ATTRAKT, and their producer’s label, The Givers. This major fight soon forced the girls to siding with one of the labels.
However, the girls unfortunately sided with the label that lied to them, making the Korean public (as well as Western K-pop fandom) soon turn against Fifty Fifty. This instantly destroyed the group’s meteoric rise to K-pop fame.
So what the heck happened to the group?
We’ll break down what led to Fifty Fifty’s demise, how Korean culture played a huge part in their downfall, and Keena’s anime redemption arc.
