UK Covid-19: Patrick Vallance says 'vaccines are producing very effective results'

SAGE files released tonight show that the scientists advising the Government have become 'more optimistic' about the dangers of the virus resurging in Britain after next week's rule changes. Boris Johnson today confirmed that the May 17 relaxation, which includes being allowed to mix indoors and sleep over, will go ahead, hailing the 'very considerable step'. SPI-M sub-group suggested that even in worst-case scenarios hospital admissions would be considerably lower than they were in December and January's second wave. The top-line models suggest that there are unlikely to be more than 5,000 people in hospital at any one time over the next five months and that new daily admissions will not surpass 1,000.
