The Army Game was the most successful TV sitcom for ITV in the 1950s. Regular writers of the show Barry Took and Marty Feldman were commissioned to write a spin-off using two of the Army Game characters. They chose Alfie Bass as Montague 'Bootsie' Bisley and Bill Fraser as Claude Snudge.

This is the first ever aired episode.
