In this video, you can see the beautiful autumnal leaves while visiting some of the most beautiful spots in Kamikochi ande Norikura Kogen Highland and Nomugi Pass.
Kamikochi, located in the western part of Nagano Prefecture, is Japan's most scenic area, and is designated as a national "special scenic spot" and "special natural monument".
Wherever you stop, you can enjoy the beautiful combination of mountain scenery and clear water along the Azusa River, which is filled with crystal clear water, and the Taisho Pond, Tashiro Pond and Myojin Pond are home to many waterfowl and fish, which nurture the surrounding forest and many lives.
Taisho Pond was created when Mt. Yakedake erupted in 1915 and the Azusa River was dammed up by lava and mud flows. A forest of dead and submerged trees stands in the pond, creating a unique landscape, which is one of the most representative views of the Kamikochi area.
On a quiet morning, you can see Mt Yakedake and the Hotaka mountain range clearly reflected upside down in the water like a water mirror.
he Azusa River flows slowly through the Kamikochi area and then flows into Taisho Pond. A walking trail has been developed along the Azusa River, where you can enjoy trekking with a superb view of the Hotaka mountain range and Mt Yakedake. You may even see wild Japanese macaques on the trail.
Kappabashi Bridge is a bridge over the Azusa River, and it is the place where you can view the most famous scenery in Kamikochi, where the Hotaka mountain range and Mt Yakedake rise beyond the Azusa River.
The point slightly upstream from Kappa Bridge is also recommended, where you can enjoy a superb view of the Azusa River as it seems to flow right in front of the Hotaka mountain range.
Norikura Kogen is located in the western part of Nagano Prefecture, and is a plateau looking up to Mt. Norikura is the third highest volcano in Japan (3,026m) after Mt Fuji and Mt Ontake, and is one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan.
Norikura Kogen has many hot spring lodges and is a popular summer retreat and a ski resort in winter.

Ichinose Enchi is a high-rise marshland located in Norikura Kogen, famous for its Skunk cabbage in spring. With a babbling mountain stream and a ranch nearby, you can enjoy the tranquil scenery of the plateau and, of course, the view of Mount Norikura.
Norikura Echo Line starts at Azusa Lake and runs through the center of Norikura Highlands and leads to the top of Mt Norikura. For example, Suzuran Bridge is famous for its autumnal colors.
Ushidome Pond is a rather large pond that reflects Mt Norikura. The pond is located in the forest a short distance from the Norikura Echo Line and is surrounded by a walking path. There are some interesting trees with rotated trunks that make for a pleasant walk through the forest.
Zengoro-no-Taki (Zengoro Falls) is a spectacular waterfall that can be viewed together with Mt. Norikura and the waterfall can be viewed from an observation deck.
Nomugi Pass is located on the border of Nagano and Gifu prefectures and is 1,672m above sea level.
Nomugi Pass is also known as a famous place for autumn leaves and the view of Mt Norikura reflected upside down in the surface of the reservoir is wonderful.
