Maa Mogal Devi was Born in the Charan Cast at Bank of Okha River. Women of Charan Cast are Adored as Mother Goddesses by Other Major Communities of this Region including Kings. According to “Srimad Bhagavatam (3.10.28-29), Charans was created Along With other Divine forms such as Yaksha, Gandharvas, Deva, Siddhas, Apsara, Etc. and lived in the Heavenly Planets. Members of this cast are known for their High literary Sense, Deep loyalty towards the Society, Cleverness and Unflinching Readiness for Martyrdom space in War.
There is an Ancient Folk Story (Katha - Myth) about a Demon Named Machhasur who did penance to Lord Shiva And Become so Powerful. He stole the Four Vedas from Brahma and Hid into a River (Okha - River in Gujarat - Saurashtra) Disgust as a Fish. This OKHA River is also mentioned in the MAHABHARATA.
The Gods and Goddesses became terrified and went to Mount Kailash and did Stuti to Maa Adishakti and Invoked her. Adishakti promised that she would come in the Form of a Daughter at the House of Devasur ( who was a Charan and A Devi Bhakt). Adishakti is everywhere in the Universe nothing remains hidden from her. She took a form of a Fish and dived into the River where the Demon was roaming around like a Fish. Maa fought with Machhasur And slew him with her Sharp sword and save the Vedas, She returned them back to Brahmaloka.
There are Few pilgrimages of Maa Mogal in Gujarat. Bhaguda, Bhayla, Jindava, Ranesar etc . Every year Devotees and followers of Mogal Maa celebrate “ Patotsav” at Bhaguda Dham from Last 22 Years. Where So many Dignitaries like Pujya Morari Bapu, Ramdas Maharaj, Artists like kirtidan gadhvi, Devotees, Musicians, And so many people attend the Patotsav of Mogal Maa Every Year.
As I told before members of this Cast are known for their high literary sense. Kavi Shree Ghanashyam is one of them who Write the song “Mogal Rehjo Raji “ This Composition describes Purity and Divinity of Maa Mogal.
