This is our fourth teaching for Judaism 101, and please don’t miss our first three lessons. Jewish observance is central to Judaism from the beginning of their history. But today in modern world, with the resulting freedom of religion in various places, religious practice is voluntary.  We will talk in this video about the Dietary Law, Ritual Purity, Prayers and Ethics.

The Jewish dietary laws are known as kashrut (כַּשְׁרוּת‎). It deals with the foods that Jews are permitted to eat and how those foods must be prepared according to Jewish law. Most of the basic laws of kashrut are derived from the book of Torah.

Leviticus 11:2-3 These are the animals which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth: among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud—that you may eat.
