EASIEST Lentil Curry Recipe - in under 15 Minutes! Red Lentil Curry with Masoor and Moong Daal

In this video, we show the Easiest Lentil Curry Recipe that you can make in under 15 Minutes! This is a delicious Red Lentil Curry with Masoor and Moong Daal. Lentil curries (Dal or Daal) are really popular in the Subcontinent and often served with rice or roti. This is a super quick and easy red lentil curry that we make at least once a week at home since it's also really delicious and healthy too.

To make this Easy Lentil Curry Recipe, you will need:
1/2 cup split red lentils (masoor daal)
1/2 cup washed moong (or mung) dal
600ml hot water (or enough for the lentils to cook in)
1 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
2 cardamom pods
3 whole cloves
1 tbs curry leaves
1/4 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
1/4 of a small onion (finely chopped)
2 -3 small garlic cloves
1 green chili (or to taste)
*NOTE: 1 tsp whole Achaar Masala (if you don't have this then you can use 1/5 tsp each of the following whole spices: fennel, cumin, fenugreek, nigella and mustard seeds)
Optional: 1/2 tsp achari masala powder
1 large spoonful of ghee (clarified butter)
2 grated garlic cloves
1/2 tsp whole cumin seeds
1 heaped tsp tomato puree
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp dried Kasuri methi
fresh lemon juice (to taste)
fresh coriander
*Adjust water content depending on the consistency that you prefer

The whole process takes less than 15 minutes, as you just put all the ingredients together and let it cook. These lentils cook really fast so you can prepare a healthy and delicious meal in no time at all. We enjoy having this spicy dhal curry with buttered roti (chapati) but it is also very commonly served with plain white rice, especially in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.
