These easy to make Japanese treats are savory and sweet and is a favorite treat in Japan, especially at festivals.

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/4 cups steamed sticky rice
2 tbsp corn starch
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp mirin
1 tbsp soy sauce
slurry ( mix 1/2 cup water & 2 tbsp corn starch )

DIRECTIONS:
Combine hot steamed rice and cornstarch in a bowl and mix well. Make sure you are using hot cooked rice. Roll the rice into 9-12 small balls. Boil for 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside. Skewer the rice balls on sticks to make 3-4 sticks of dango. Make a slurry by combining the cornstarch with water. Set aside. In a saucepan, combine water, soy sauce, mirin and sugar and heat until just before boiling. Add the slurry and continue to cook mixing constantly until the sauce starts to thicken. Once sauce is smooth and thick, pour over the dango balls and serve immediately.
