Roy Eldridge nicknamed Little Jazz, influenced by classical trumpet players like Red Allen, Louis Armstrong, had great command of the instrument, was characterized by his impetuous and impetuous style and was one of the first followers of Rex Stewart in the use of the singular technique of semi-lowered pistons. Attracted by the typical fluidity of saxophonists (he was a great admirer of Coleman Hawkins) he was able to transfer it naturally and with excellent results to the trumpet, and he proved himself a master in performing Blues and Ballads themes. It became a fundamental element of the Swing Era, without any doubt, it is the junction bridge between the era of Louis Armstrong and the BeBop era, first of all Dizzy Gillespie.
