Hey guys! I came up with a new way to do two sided machining on my CNC machine. If you have a CNC router, and you want to machine out both sides, then you have to have some method for aligning the second operation (the bottom side). Check out this video for how I make this "Shallow Flow Bowl". This one concentrates on using Fusion 360 for the toolpaths (the CAM). You can make it too! Update: I now have a more "traditional" two sided machining way of doing this project in Vectric VCarve / Aspire: How To CNC a Bowl in Vectric VCarve -...

I wrote up a complete set of directions (PDF) along with the Fusion 360 file all setup with my particular machine's toolpaths, which should work well for most CNC router machines. Get it at:

Etsy Fusion 360 Version: https://www.etsy.com/CorbinsWorkshopS...
Esty Vectric VCarve Version: https://www.etsy.com/CorbinsWorkshopS...

The file requires some basic Fusion 360 knowledge, but I do cover a lot of the details on how to use it in the plans/directions. I will release a Vectric VCarve version in the future! I'll also talk about VCarve makes things like this difficult.

Typically two sided machining is done with some dowels for alignment...and this method works great for projects that you can cut through with a single bit. For woodworking, with typical bits, that is about 1-1/4", or up to about 2.5", if your design allows cutting exactly half of each side. For complex shapes, like a bowl, you are limited to your cutter height, unless you do some clever stepping out to avoid collisions. This makes it more difficult to leave space for alignment holes.
