India has overseas military bases spread across 9 countries. India's strategic Farkhor airbase in Tajikistan becomes very important as American boots on the ground withdraw from Afghanistan. Then are Indian military bases in the Indian Ocean Region to counter  China's String of Pearls. India has a military base in North Agalega Island in Mauritius. China is picking up bases all over the world as well. Djibouti, a strategic port at the mouth of the Red Sea with easy access to the Arabian Sea, is their first overseas naval base.
