Go behind the scenes at our specialist Textile Conservation Studio at Blickling Estate, Norfolk, for a deep dive into a few of the treasures we care for. Explore the work that our curators have taken on, such as a set of Samurai armour, an intricately detailed 17th-century tapestry of Anthony and Cleopatra, and a state bed, hung in embroidered Chinese silk.
Different fabrics and designs tell us a lot about the history of special objects. From wall-hangings, to clothes and curtains, you can learn about the status, taste and lives of people from the past. Our skilled curators take extra care to reconstruct objects such as tapestries, repairing minute details so that the stories of these objects can continue to be told for generations to come.
