Karukare Karmukil, Mohiniyattam dance to
Karukare Karmukil, Mohiniyattam dance to Malayalam folk song written by dramatist and poet Kavalam Narayana Panicker for the play Kummatti. This piece, a new age version folk song, set in samanthamalahari raga Chaturashra ekam talam, has been arranged and sung by Vinod Krishnan. Choreographed and performed by Trupthi Panickor, this fusion of classical dance and folk music, rejoices the rain pouring down heavily in Karkidakam the Kerala month of rejuvenation. The dance depicts the rain god as an elephant riding the dark clouds, describes the joy and beauty of the peacock dancing with its feathers spread out in the rain.
