Once leaving Goodsprings, if the Courier attempts to travel up Interstate 15, they are stopped by a man named "Chomps Lewis". He explains how the quarry is overrun by Deathclaws, and how the Courier must take a detour. If the Courier is level 15 or above, they will have the option of attempting to clear out the quarry, and will be given various healing items to help their efforts.
By utilizing a high critical chance, special ammo types, a large assortment of chems and the Gun Runner's Arsenal exlusive "Paciencia", the Deathclaws are able to be cleared completely at a mere level 16 on "Very Hard" difficulty.
