A spotlight or a torch light is shone into patients galbella from a distance of 33 cm and the reflex of the torch is observed in both the eyes simultaneously. If the reflex is shifted temporally, patient is said to have esodeviation, if the reflex is shifted nasally, the deviation is exodeviation, if the reflex is shifted up and down; the deviation is hypodeviation and hyper deviation respectively.
