(10 Jun 1996) Natural Sound Security sources in Israel say Hezbollah guerrillas killed five Israeli soldiers and wounded six others in a daybreak ambush in occupied south Lebanon on Monday. It follows Sunday's attack when Hezbollah fighters shelled two Israeli patrols and their allied Lebanese militia, wounding two soldiers. Iranian-backed Hezbollah, or Party of God, guerrillas are being blamed for two separate attacks against Israeli and its allied South Lebanese Army soldiers inside Israel's self-declared "security zone" Sunday. The first ambush took place in the central area of the occupied border zone when a bomb went off under an Israeli army patrol vehicle. Lebanese police then reported the attackers fired three anti-tank rockets on the patrol. One Israeli soldier was slightly wounded in the attack. While no one has claimed responsibility for the first attack, the Hezbollah say they carried out the second ambush. The second roadside bomb was detonated thirty minutes later near the village of Beit Yahoun. One S-L-A soldier was injured in that attack.
