FANUC America Authorized System Integrator Matrix Design developed this – their customized Gantry and Deburring System – to utilize two FANUC robots for the handling of parts for inspection, engraving, machining and deburring.

The system starts as the first robot – R1 – an overhead, gantry-mounted FANUC M-20iA/20T robot places a raw part into a gaging station. This precision gage system checks the part’s inner bore for pass/fail inspection, and it monitors for machine tool wear. After gaging is complete, R1, the FANUC M-20iA/20T then picks the raw part from the gaging station and places it into a laser station, where a laser burns a QR code onto the raw part for traceability. R1 then picks the raw part from the laser and moves it to a machine tool, where a machined part awaits. The robot places the raw part, picks a machined part, and moves it to a conveyor.

The part moves down the conveyor into a deburring cell, where R2 – A FANUC LR Mate 200iD/7L long arm robot – picks the part and brings it to a deburring wheel for outer diameter deburring. Matrix’s custom designed deburring spindle ensures all dimensional and quality requirements are met.  Additionally, deburr tool monitoring are integrated into the entire system to minimize downtime. Once the part’s outer diameter is deburred, the FANUC LR Mate 200iD/7L presents the deburred part to a blow off station and then places the finished part on a shuttle. Finally, the shuttle takes finished parts out of the deburring cell.

This is one of many custom robotic deburring systems developed by the experienced team of automation experts at Matrix Design. To learn more about FANUC America Authorized System Integrator Matrix design, please visit http://www.matrixdesignllc.com.
