A Truly Unusual Cactus in Bloom in my Cacti & Succulent Greenhouse Collection: Pterocactus tuberosus

I must admit, when I received this cactus as a present last autumn I was initially not too impressed by it: a tangle of thin, brownish-green stems with a few, though unusually shaped, thin spines, almost like scales of a snake skin...HOWEVER, fast-forward 7 months...and I have just been proven sooo wrong by this plant!!! It has just developed an amazing and rather spectacular bouquet of blooms, coming straight from the tips of the unusual stems - with flowers in a most unusual golden to yellowish-brown color!

The plant has just proven once again: there is no such thing as an ugly cactus!!
