For the first time since independence, a Navratri puja was held at the historic Sharda Devi Temple close to the Line of Control in Teetwal village in Kupawara district of Jammu and Kashmir. This puja, held on October 15, marked the first time it had taken place since India gained its independence. Nestled near the Line of Control in Teetwal village, the Sharda Devi Temple served as the venue for this grand celebration, aligning perfectly with the commencement of Sharad Navratri. The event garnered substantial attention, drawing a multitude of pilgrims from every corner of the country. The temple is devoted to the Hindu goddess Maa Sharda, an entity often regarded as an incarnation of Saraswati. An additional layer of historical significance was added when, in March, the temple was meticulously restored to its original location, where it stood before the partition of the country. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a remarkable e-inauguration ceremony, played a pivotal role in inaugurating the Mata Sharda Devi Temple. This event was more than a spiritual awakening; it symbolized the return of tranquillity and peace to the Valley. Amit Shah underlined the profound spiritual importance of the puja in a tweet, making it clear that the first post-1947 celebration held a special place in the hearts of the nation.
