Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi visited Jagadguru Adishankara Janmabhoomi Kshetram at Kalady in Kerala on Sept 1, 2022.

Sri V.R.Gowrishankar, the CEO and Administrator of Sringeri Math accorded Poornakumbha Swagatham to the Prime Minister. The CEO also guided the PM to various places related to the life of Adi Shankaracharya within our Sringeri Math temple complex including the darshana of Aryamba Sthamba originally installed in her Samadhi. The Honourable Prime Minister had Darshan of Shakti Ganapathi, Sri Sharadamba and Adi Shankaracharya Sannidhi shrines. He also performed Guru Paduka pooja at the Adi Shankara shrine.

Sep 1st 2022 (Friday) is an auspicious day and It’s divine grace and coincidence that PM chooses Rishi Panchami Day, also celebrated as Bhadrapada Shukla Panchami Day, for visiting the Janma Sthala and our Math complex at Kalady.

We are ever grateful to our 33rd Jagadguru Shri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji (1879 - 1912 ) for determining the sites in Kalady as the Janma Sthala of Bhagavadpada and establishing and consecrating the temple for Sharadamba and Adi Shankara there in Feb, 1910.

Our MahaSannidhanam Shri Shri Bharati Teertha Mahaswamiji has chosen this Rishi Panchami Day to be celebrated as Sri Adi Shankara Day given the summer holiday constraints of School and College going children in participating and celebrating the Shankara Jayanti on Vaishaka Shukla Panchami.

Sri Adishankara Day is being celebrated across 50 to 60 schools across Tamil Nadu on Rishi Panchami Day every year by conducting seminars , lectures, quiz contests etc on the life of Sri Adishankara and his teachings and its relevance even today.

It is heartening to point out the historic visits of PM Modi to KEDAR, the place that bears the significance of completion of Shivāvatara of Shankara, on Nov 5th 2021 to unveil the Divine Sila of Jagadguru Adi Shankara there, and to KALADY the Janmasthal of Bhagavadpada, on Sep 1st, 2022, all within a year!
