Smart Carb cost - $700 (add $75 for TPS)

Lectron Cost - $475 (includes throttle cable)

Both carbs ran fantastic on the test bike.
Both of them gave similar advantages over the stock Keihin carb.
Both carbs seem to dump less fuel on the ground
Better throttle response and properly metered for elevation and temperatures.
Both carbs have a nice idle adjustment that can be done without tools
Both carbs offer different metering rods for the end user to customize their tune
SC2 has no vent hoses (only a float bowl drain hose) so some might say that is a cleaner look.

Lectron Pro over Smart Carb
* Cheaper cost - Smart carb is $200 - $300 more depending on options - that is about 50% more.
* Translucent float bowl to monitor fuel level (stuck float situation)
* Doesn’t require trimming on air boot for the internal vent scoop like some models do on SC2

Smart Carb Pro over Lectron
* Choke on the correct side
* Tune the carb with no tools externally while bike is up to temp
* Uses Stock Throttle Cable
* 5mm shorter end to end making it easier to fit on install
* Has option for TPS which might give you the option to install on a couple other models

Notes -
* Have heard of two instances from SC users where the carb pumped fuel into the cylinder when in transport, or tipping over. One gentleman had this happen to him twice. Filled entire engine crankcase with gas. Important to shut the rule petcock off.  Have not hear this from Lectron users as of the filming of this video.
* I’ve heard SC users and Lectron users tell me they have tuning issues with their carbs here and there.  Neither one are fool proof.  I’ve not had any problem with either.

Bottom line -

Yes, the SC2 carb allows you to tune the bike without tools, but at a cost of $200-$300 more.  Keeping in context, I have installed the Lectron or more than 10 of my own bikes (I own 3 of them right now), Tuning for me has been a one time thing when I first install on the bike.  Most of the time I’m close enough with NO TUNING, but some times, I need to turn the metering rod about a half turn.  That is it.  I’m done after that no matter where I ride.  3000 feet to over 10,000 feet and they run great.  30 degrees to 105 degrees. I’m not sure the extra $200-$300 is worth that to me at this point of my life.

If having the choke on the left side of the carb and not having to pull the slide off the bike once or twice in the beginning is worth the sacrificing th $200 - $300 to you, then go for the smart carb.

If you don’t care about the choke because you only need it a fraction of the time the bike starts (many times even when it’s cold I don’t need it), and you don’t mind taking a few extra minutes in the beginning (possibly) to set it up, and you like the feeling of $200-$300 in your pocket, I know the Lectron works very, very well.
