Here, I'll show you a traditional German recipe for a creamy fish salad made with pickled herring. This traditional Northern German dish features pickled herrings, known as "Matjes." The herring fillets are served in a creamy sauce with onions, apples, and pickles. The dish is both sweet and sour and is often served with rye bread or potatoes. Ingredients:

500 g Matjes fillets
200 g sour cream
200 g crème fraîche
150 ml cream
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp sugar
1 red onion
3 pickled cucumbers
1 apple (tart)
1 tsp black pepper (freshly ground)
1 bunch fresh dill
Recipe:

Rinse Matjes fillets under cold water to remove excess salt. Optionally, soak them in water for half an hour to further reduce salt content, then drain.
Finely dice red onion, pickled cucumbers, and tart apple.
In a bowl, combine sour cream, crème fraîche, and cream. Add lemon juice, mustard, and sugar, and stir. Optionally, incorporate freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Chop fresh dill and add it to the mixture along with diced onions, cucumbers, and apple.
Chop Matjes fillets and add them to the sauce.
Transfer the prepared mixture to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for 3-4 hours to intensify flavors.
Before serving, arrange the dish on plates and optionally garnish with dill.
