Leflaive’s outpost in the Mâconnais has been nurturing a patchwork of vineyards for nearly two decades. Their Mâcon-Verzé has been a C&B favourite since its inaugural 2004 vintage.

In the 2017 vintage, two single vineyard cuvées were introduced – Le Monté and Les Chênes – having previously formed part of the overall blend. Mâcon-Igé, from the village to the north, was added in the 2018 vintage.

These offer a new and remarkable insight into how three vineyards in close proximity can make for richly varied wines. If Les Chênes is linear and Puligny-like, Le Monté is weightier and more flamboyant, whilst silky Mâcon-Igé is the Mâconnais’ answer to Folatières!

All three are drinking beautifully now and will continue to develop over the next couple of years.
