HRIS Sync
The exchange of data between Employee Central (EC) and the SAP SuccessFactors HCM Platform, to allow consumption of EC data by other SuccessFactors modules is called as Human Resource Information System (HRIS) Synchronization (or HRIS Sync for short). HRIS Sync is a background Scheduled Job. It periodically looks for data that is changed in EC and updates the legacy user tables with data from EC. The job is configured to run on a schedule. The synchronization process is triggered automatically at the end of the update for current and past dated records, for data updates using UI.

Data is synchronized from the current Employee Central data records to Employee Profile. Depending on when the data is set to become effective or based on the HRIS Sync job type that is being run, the system will action this sync.

Daily HRIS Sync:
This job is scheduled to run once daily and it picks up any future effective dated changes that become effectively active on the day the job runs on. Consider the job is running daily, if the date is 06/09/2018, then the job will sync changes for users who had future-dated change to their current Employee Central record, which become effective on 06/09/2018.
Scheduled jobs will only update data for the active employees. Data for inactive employees is considered historical and is not updated by the sync job.

Full HRIS Sync:
This is a “one off” run of the HRIS Sync job. It ensures that all Employee Central data that is "currently effective as of Today()" is synced to the SAP SuccessFactors HCM Platform according to sync rules. Only if there are multiple cases of data that are not being in sync between Employee Central and SAP SuccessFactors HCM Platform, this job is scheduled by SAP Cloud Product Support.
Scheduled jobs will only update data for the active employees. Data for inactive employees is considered historical and is not updated by the sync job.
