Full Hike [CC] (No Map/Stabilization): Scaling the Beehive in Acadia National Park, Maine

Among the wilds of Acadia National Park, where pristine woodlands meet the cool waters of the North Atlantic, lie a couple of perilous, glacier-carved trails that will push acrophobic hikers to their limits. The Beehive could be considered as the less-risky option of the two, but don't let that impression lull you: iron rungs are involved.
Pay attention while "climbing" those iron rungs; yes, the hike requires actual climbing. Again, pay attention while navigating the steep cliffs and narrow ledges. Fortunately, the panic-inducing section of the trail is not long. Soon come picturesque resting spots: on top, and farther along at the Bowl. There, you can ruminate on delicious lobster roll choices while on safer grounds.
Perhaps that's why this hike exists, to help park visitors work off the tasty seafood they'll surely be enjoying while in Maine.

My Thoughts:
The Bowl was a cool spot, and I wish I had more time to explore all of it. This hike really comes down to how much height a person can stomach: an extreme fear may be better off with doing an out-and-back by ascending the backside of the Beehive through the Bowl Trail. Note that some online guides will advise against going down the Beehive Trail, but personally I think it's more about not having to wait and take turns between people going up/down than the danger factor, since the shortness and well-placed iron bars make the climbing rather manageable. There were no facilities at the trailhead (or along the route); closest ones were at Sand Beach. Parking was plentiful, though, even late into the morning.
