June Whitfield 'Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend' 1953 78 rpm

Dame June Whitfield was a national treasure in the UK after a career lasting over 60 years, she started out working with Wilfred Pickles in the 40's and recorded an interview sounding very spry with David Hamilton for radio just weeks before she passed away on 29th December 2018 aged 93. She had appeared in the film version of Absolutely Fabulous in 2016 reprising her character of Jennifer Saunders mother.
She had a long running tv double act with Terry Scott in 2 series Happy Ever After and Terry And June people even thought they were married in real life.
In the early 50's June recorded a couple of singles for Philips this being the second one.
June appeared in Carry On films, Last Of The Summer Wine, Eastenders and many, many more tv and films.
June covered Marilyn Monroe's hits from her film 'Gentleman Prefer Blondes' showing another string to her bow.
