For performing heel slides you want to try and find either a firm bed or you want to put some sort of a blanket down on the ground if you are about to do that, what you want to also get is some sort of a belt, sheet, or dog leash, something of that nature that you're going to use to assist you with coming up into a stretch with your knee. For heel slides you want to bend the opposite leg of whatever you are stretching, just to make sure you aren't overstretching your hamstrings. For the leg that you want to stretch its very important that place whatever you are using to stretch around the ball of your feet, you want to make sure that your heel stays in contact with whatever surface that you're on. You're going to use your hands to assist you with the belt into a stretch of knee flexion or knee bending. You want to make sure that you foot your knee and your hip stays in the straightest position possible. you want to slide your heel to a point were your feeling a good stretch in the knee not to the point of pain and you want to hold that position for approximately 5 - 10 seconds. After that, you want to gently slide your heel back to get your knee as straight as possible. you want to repeat this process for approximately 5 -10 minutes.
