Wholesale gas prices in some
Wholesale gas prices in some cities have reached their highest level in a year.
Sydney and Melbourne have seen the biggest increases in the short-term market, as industrial gas users pay more than double their usual prices for supply.
It's after the Energy Market Operator issued a threat notice this week over fears of a potential gas shortage this winter.
The shortfall is being attributed to low wind power generation and little development in new gas projects.
