As Eastern Australia goes through a cold snap, the energy market operator AEMO has warned there may not be enough gas in the system to meet demand.
The threat notice was issued late yesterday which flags the potential for gas supply shortfalls due to the depletion of southern storage inventories.
The problem has been exacerbated by unplanned maintenance in Bass Strait, leading to constrained production from the Longford gas plant in Victoria.
