A stunning rendition of the Douglas DC-8 made compatible with your copy of Prepar3D or Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

This model by the development team at Aerosoft (and partners) has no expense spared when it comes to the accuracy of the 3D exterior model or cockpit interior.

The DC-8 was an early aircraft that brought long-distance travel to the general population and many old-timers will remember flights on the DC-8 bringing them to holiday destinations previously never thought of for their first time.

The model features a fully detailed 3D model along with accurate flight dynamics.  The aircraft can be piloted via VOR/NDB like the real-world pilots of the DC-8 would have.

There are no MCDU, FMS, or FADEC - this aircraft is true to its generation and it is a real workhorse to fly with manual intervention and heavy flying.  Fly manually, as they would have done in the original DC-8 - no hand-off automation involved.

This add-on for both FSX and P3D featured the following;

A complete simulation of the DC-8 airliner with a focus on the normal procedures you can expect of an aircraft of this era.
A complete 3D model which is fully animated including all flight surfaces, reversers, a complete landing gear along with four animated exists, and two cargo doors.
A fully animated and functional 3D VC (virtual cockpit) that features all of the gauges and instruments you would find in the real-world DC-8.
Fully detailed and in-depth simulated systems featuring more than 10 of the standard aircraft systems - fully custom to the add-on.
Rain effects on the cockpit glass - provided by TrueGlass technology (TFDi).
The Prepar3D version includes dynamic landing, taxi, and ground floodlights that illuminate objects.
The cockpit has been made true-to-life with realistic lighting both day and night including coverage of the main panel, pedestal, and engineer’s panel floodlights, dome light, panel backlighting, and instrument gauge lighting.
You can adjust the level of lighting (up/down) in terms of intensity/brightness.
The entire sound-pack for engines and features has been provided by TSS (Turbine Sound Studios) - it's completely custom.
A radar display is available showing terrain with three different ranges.
Includes is a cargo/fuel loader tool that allows you to specify what's on the aircraft before take-off - it also allows you to add/remove passenger count.
The engines are faithfully reproduced along with EPR readings to set power for takeoff, climb, and cruise.
Included are performance tables for your reference in determining V speeds, power settings, takeoff trim, maneuver and stall speeds, and more.
Icing features are included that also simulate increased drag during flight and degrade lift - a very realistic simulation.
You can also start cold and dark (as most veteran simulators enjoy).

The add-on is released as payware which means you need to purchase it in order to use it.
