Disconnected #battery in VW Golf #MK7 (and other MQB car) causes voltage drop and will reset steering angle sensor, following by #errors and warning messages about ACC cruise control, Front Assist, Lane Assist, Start-Stop, ESC traction and stability system, tyre pressure monitoring system, Parktronic, Hill Hold, Auto Hold. You can also notice that dynamic lines in rear view camera are not moving, parktronic button indicator is flashing, power steering is very light. There's a free fix for it - basic settings procedure which can be done without diagnostic tools like VCDS or OBDeleven.

🔧 Turn on the engine, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, next all the way to the right, wait couple seconds, and observe as most of the errors and warnings are clearing. This will force basic settings on the steering wheel angle sensors. This procedure is also called programming, learning, or adaptation of the sensor.

ℹ️ To reset Active Cruise Control and Front Assist you will have to cycle the ignition.

This procedure will apply to other MQB platform cars, like Skoda Octavia (5E) and Superb, Seat Leon (5F) and Ibiza, Audi A3 8V, Volkswagen Passat B8, Arteon, Polo. Most likely other VW/Audi vehicles are using the same procedure.
