Hoberman Tributes is a set of four linked-hinge mechanisms based on the famous Hoberman Sphere. Whereas Hoberman spheres have many moving part, here the challenge was to minimize the number of moving parts. The Hober Triangle, Hober Square, Hober Penta and Hober Hexa have 6, 8, 10 and 12 moving parts, respectively. Whereas the triangle, square and hexagon are stable, the pentagon is unstable and it can be folded in its pentagon-shape state. The square and hexagon are stable, because their arms have been given different lengths, disabling any potential folding. The triangle is intrinsically stable because of its low number of parts. The question remains how the pentagon could be made stable, such that it can pass the pentagonal state without folding.
