Step into Kingston Lacy, the home of the Bankes family, and discover a treasure trove of art and rare objects with astonishing stories to tell. Watch the video to join Dr Elena Greer, Property Curator, and learn about the items the family saved during the destruction of their previous home, Corfe Castle, that are now cared for by the National Trust. This includes a precious book cased in binding made by Jean de Planche, a bookbinder who worked at the court of Elizabeth I in the 16th century.

The Bankes filled Kingston Lacy with a vast collection of artworks, and many of these pieces came from talented artists like Peter Paul Rubens. At the peak of his career, he became highly sought after by nobility and the royal courts of Europe, including James I. Tarnya Cooper, Curation and Conservation Director, delves into the details of two of his captivating paintings that are conserved by the National Trust at Kingston Lacy.
