In mechanics for jee main as well as in NEET every year questions are asked on different cases of Vertical Circular Motion of simple pendulum.

In JEE Advance mechanics vertical circular motion of pendulum bob is very important topic.  In this video Ashish Arora Sir is covering below concepts on different cases of vertical circular motion of pendulum bob.

Concept-1 : Velocity of bob released from horizontal position
Concept-2 : Tension in string when bob is released from horizontal position
Concept-3 : Tangential acceleration of bob in downward motion of bob released from horizontal position
Concept-4 : Normal acceleration of bob in downward motion of bob released from horizontal position
Concept-5 : Total acceleration of bob in downward motion of bob released from horizontal position
Concept-6 : Velocity of bob in upward motion starting from bottom point
Concept-7 : Tension in string in upward motion starting from bottom point
Concept-8 : Tangential acceleration of bob in upward motion starting from bottom point
Concept-9 : Normal Acceleration of bob in upward motion starting from bottom point
Concept-10 : Total Acceleration of bob in upward motion starting from bottom point
Concept-11 : Angular amplitude of bob in lower half of vertical circular motion
Concept-12 : Angle of slack where string tension becomes zero in upper half of vertical circular motion
Concept-13 : Understanding projectile motion of bob after slack angle in upper half of vertical circle
Concept-14 : Different cases of projection of pendulum bob from bottom most point
Concept-15 : Analysis of pendulum bob if initial speed is less than √2gl
Concept-16 : Analysis of pendulum bob if initial speed is equal to √2gl
Concept-17 : Analysis of pendulum bob if initial speed is more than √2gl but less than √5gl
Concept-18 : Analysis of pendulum bob if initial speed is less than √5gl
Concept-19 : Analysis of pendulum bob if initial speed is less than √4gl
Concept-20 : √4gl is the minimum required speed to complete the circular motion by suspended pendulum but tenstion doesn't support bob to complete it
Concept-21 : Condition to complete vertical circular motion by a pendulum bob
Concept-22 : Minimum speed required at topmost point to complete circle is √gl
Concept-23 : Minimum speed required at horizontal points to complete circle is √3gl
Concept-24 : Angle at which slack point comes is cos^(-1)(-2/3) if initial speed of projection at bottom most point is √4gl
Concept-25 : Maximum height of bob above suspension point if initial velocity is greater than √2gl and less than √5gl (This is not discussed in this video but students can calculate using projectile motion formula)
Concept-26 : Time taken by bob above in free fall motion after slack point if initial velocity is greater than √2gl and less than √5gl (This is not discussed in this video but students can calculate using projectile motion formula)
Concept-27 : Vertical circular motion in accelerated frame. (This is not discussed in this video but in accelerated frame g can be replaced with effective gravity in the accelerated frame and all concepts explained in this video can be applied

Below are Five practice questions for students out of which in ONE question given answer is wrong. Students need to identify that question and post in comment section.

Practice Questions on VCM of pendulum bob -
1. Find the angular amplitude of a pendulum bob of string length 5m which is horizontally projected from bottom point at speed 10m/s. What is the angular amplitude of this pendulum ?
[90°]
2. In previous question no 1 if projection speed is 10√2 m/s then angular amplitude becomes approximately 130°. True or False ?
[True]
3. In previous question no 2 bob follows projectile motion after leaving circular path. True or False ?
[True]
4. In quetion no 1 if string length is doubled and bob is pulled aside so that string becomes horizontal and bob is projected vertically down at speed 10√3 m/s then bob will complete the vertical circular motion. True or False ?
[True]
5. If pendulum of question no 1 is suspended inside a box car on one of its vertical wall. The box car is accelerating on a horizontal flat road at 10m/s². From equilibrium position what should be the minimum projection speed of the pendulum bob so that it can complete the vertical circular motion in frame of box car.
