Namaste We are Shirish and Pooja
and Welcome to the "Ganesh Chaturthi" special episode of ‪@RedSoilStories‬
Today is Ganesh Chaturthi a very auspicious and most celebrated day in India. In Maharashtra it is known as the biggest festival and Celebrated widely in almost all parts of the state.
Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, or Vinayaka Chaviti is a Hindu festival celebrating the annual arrival of the Hindu god Ganesha to earth from his celestial abode. The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesha's clay murtis privately in homes and publicly on elaborate pandals.
We are also celebrating this festival in our village house and will prepare Ganapati special Ukadiche Modak (उकडीचे मोदक) and Aluchya Gathya.
Modak (मोदक) is considered to be favorite dish of (Ganapati ) Lord Ganesh and it is often prepared on this day to offer the Modak to Ganapati.
Ukadiche Modak (उकडीचे मोदक) is a unique recipe indigenous to Maharashtra. We also prepared different varieties of Modak (मोदक) which are less known and only prepared in Kokan region and Goa.
We celebrated this festival with great enthusiasm, We did Puja, offered "Modakacha Naivaidya" (Modak offering), our young friends from our village came to our home for "Ganapatichi Aarti" (Lord Ganesh Prayer) and sung "Sukhakarta Dukhaharta" together. Then we all had lunch together and Prayed in front of Ganapati Bappa.

Do share the Modak recipe with your friend and family.
Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to all of you..!
