To Be Clear: The push-up, sometimes called the press-up, is the most common of all daily workouts and routine exercises. For this particular workout exercise, the athlete takes a lying or prone position, and by raising and lowering the body using the arms, while balancing the rest of the body weight on the toes, the push-ups exercise the arms and the bulk of the upper body including the chest, lats, shoulders, and abdominals. Push-ups are a basic exercise used in civilian athletic training, physical education, and commonly in military physical training. They are also a common form of punishment used in the military, for athletes, and in some martial arts. However, despite the numerous benefits accrued to performing push-ups, there are also a bunch of side effects that are not known to the average person.
