Dr. Masi Hashemian of Park Place Dentistry provides treatment for a wide variety of scenarios, including tooth pain after filling.

Are you experiencing some pain after receiving a filling in a tooth? Take a look at this video and we’ll tell you about some of the common reasons you may experience some pain or discomfort after you receive a filling.

A filling may be necessary if bacteria have led to decay in the tooth. A filling is needed to remove the bacteria and replace it with a tooth-like material. Many times, this will resolve any issues you have. However, it’s common for patients to feel some pain after they get a filling. Once anesthesia wears off, you may experience sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures, to overly sweet foods and even to multiple teeth that cause pain because they are a bit too close together. Normally, these discomforts will go away after one to two weeks. If they do not, make sure to contact our office.

To help you relieve some of the pain, you might consider avoiding foods that cause discomfort, using desensitizing toothpaste, or even taking over-the-counter pain relievers.
