This is a snippet from a 1972 discourse on Soundarya Lahari, where Nataraja Guru talks on the topic of Evolution (Parinama) and Consciousness (Brahman). Commenting on verse 7 of Asatya Darsana of Darsanamala of Narayana Guru, Guru in his own unique style elucidates the difference between Vyavaharika (Horizontal) and Paramarthika (Vertical) of truth vis-a-vis Evolution and Consciousness. Guru also clearly distinguishes the difference between the mechanistic view of Evolution (Darwinian) and the Creative view (Bergsonian). He also points out the dangers of mixing philosophical truths with common sense.
Verse 7 of Asatya Darsana of Darsanamala translated by Nataraja Guru
"This Self, like milk that turns,
Does not attain to another form.
Therefore, the whole universe, as if created
By Indra's magic, exists as an eidetic presentiment. "
Recording: Judy and Mark Albert, USA
Digitalization: Shyam Balakrishnan and Suraj
