Nvidia 1070 vs 1070 Max-Q - Laptop Graphics Comparison Benchmarks

In this video I’ll compare the performance difference between two laptops running an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 and 1070 with Max-Q design. The 1070 with Max-Q is clocked slightly slower in order for it to run cooler and quieter, but how does this affect gaming performance? Although the regular 1070 is more powerful, how much better is it, and is it worth paying extra for in a laptop? I’ll perform some gaming benchmarks and see how well each graphics card does in a series of tests to help you choose between the 1070 with Max-Q or 1070 for your next laptop.
In this test we’ll be benchmarking the following games:
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO)
Overwatch
Dota2
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Watch Dogs 2
The Witcher 3
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
Shadow of War
Battlefield 1
DOOM
The 1070 laptop was the ASUS ROG Strix GL503VS Scar Edition, while the 1070 Max-Q laptop was the Metabox P950HR.

Update: It's been pointed out in the comments that other benchmarks at Notebookcheck show different results than what I have here, with a smaller difference of around 15%-20% between the two. I've tested both laptops multiple times and confirmed no throttling was present, so at this time I'm no too sure what is causing the difference, it may be that the 1070 Max-Q laptop I had is not performing fully, it gets to around 1250MHz under full load, and as mentioned in the video the core clock will differ between laptops based on a number of factors.
